About the IDUNA Foundation
Who are we and what do we do?
The IDUNA Foundation, based in Zurich, supports children and young people in need – in Switzerland, in Sweden, in Africa, and in Asia. Our mission: We provide access to education, healthcare, and a safe home for young people living in difficult circumstances.
Named after the Nordic goddess of youth and renewal, IDUNA stands for new life, hope, and development – regardless of the country a child is born in.
The IDUNA Foundation is a non-profit organization subject to federal oversight by the Swiss Supervisory Authority for Foundations (ESA) and undergoes an annual audit. In the event of liquidation, any remaining assets will be transferred to another tax-exempt organization in Switzerland with a similar purpose. It is explicitly excluded that any assets go to the founders, board members, or their successors.
We work with experienced, locally rooted partner organizations and also carry out our own targeted initiatives with the following focus areas:
- Education – We create access to learning as a foundation for an independent future.
- Health – We enable access to basic medical care and nutrition as essential building blocks for personal development.
- Care – We help ensure access to a safe home as a basis for a life in dignity.
The foundation may support existing tax-exempt charitable projects and organizations that share our mission, and it also carries out its own projects.
